Rule Against Distracted Driving Now Tougher

Effective February 16, 2011

driver with cell headsetNYS Vehicle and Traffic Law §1225 – the rule against distracted driving (including texting and cell phones) – was just enhanced!

If you are caught while texting or using a cell phone without a hands-free device (speaker phone will still get you a ticket!), you will be subject to a hefty fine and will also now incur points on your license (2 point violation).    

Pledge to keep yourself safe – make your vehicle a phone-free zone.
